Mazda SUV offering expands with all-new CX-30

The local Mazda range has grown thanks to the addition of the new CX-30 which slots between the Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-5. Duplication? Not quite as the Mazda CX-30 takes profile of a coupe but still offers more space than the model below it. It’s actually built on the same Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture that also underpins the current Mazda 3. In terms of dimensions, it is longer and wider than the CX-3 with 4,395 mm in length, 1,795 width and boasts a wheelbase of 2,655 mm.

    What is on offer?

The model line-up consists of three derivatives, offered in front-wheel drive (FWD) and automatic transmission: Active, Dynamic and Individual. The range will be powered by a lone 2.0L SKYACTIV-G engine which makes 121kW of power and 213Nm of torque.

    Plenty standard features

Every car across the range comes standard with high grade features such as LED Headlamps with Auto levelling; Driver, Passenger, Knee (Driver), Side and Curtain airbags; Head-Up Display (HUD); MZD Connect infotainment system with an 8.8-Inch Display Screen; Apple Carplay and Android Auto, just to name a few.

The Active and Dynamic grades will feature a dark grey cloth seat trim with black and navy blue accents on the dashboard. The Dynamic grade will also be available with an optional greige cloth seat trim. The Individual is equipped with black perforated leather seats and will feature black and brown accents on the dashboard.

The Mazda CX-30 offers a choice of nine exterior colours. The Active and Dynamic grades feature 16-inch grey metallic alloy wheels, whereas the Individual grade features 18-inch silver metallic alloy wheels.

    Pricing

    Pricing is as follows:

    • Mazda CX-30 2.0L Active 6AT                      R469,000
    • Mazda CX-30 2.0L Dynamic 6AT                  R499,000
    • Mazda CX-30 2.0L Individual 6AT               R540,000

This makes the cheapest CX-30 more expensive than an entry level CX-5 which is priced from R455,500. The latter is manual and offers fewer standard features.

Prices include a standard with a 3-year unlimited kilometre service plan, a 3-year factory warranty, a 5-year Corrosion Warranty and 3-year roadside assistance.
