Corolla Cross and Hilux drive Toyota’s steady November sales results

Toyota South Africa Motors recorded 13 576 new vehicle sales in November, securing a market share of 24.7 percent. This marks a slight increase from October and reinforces Toyota’s position as the top-selling brand in the country.
According to naamsa, South Africa’s new vehicle market reached 54 896 units in November, up 12.5 percent from the same month in 2024. Passenger cars led with 39 158 units, followed by light commercial vehicles, bakkies and minibuses with 13 048 units. Medium and heavy trucks posted mixed results with 698 and 1 992 units respectively.

Toyota brand performance
Toyota delivered strong results across several segments. Passenger sales totalled 8 598 units, while light commercial vehicles contributed 4 617 units and medium commercial vehicles added 262 units.
Four Toyota models featured in the country’s top 10 passenger car list:
- Corolla Cross (1 651 units)
- Starlet (1 619 units)
- Urban Cruiser (1 325 units)
- Starlet Cross (1 085 units)
Lexus also posted a steady month with 90 units sold. The NX led the charge with 31 units, while the GX and ES recorded 29 and 12 units respectively.
The Hilux remained South Africa’s bestselling bakkie, moving 3 383 units and securing a 25.9 percent share of its segment. The Land Cruiser Prado also saw notable growth, rising to 335 units from 149 in October. The Hiace achieved 596 units, while the Quantum bus delivered its best performance of the year at 162 units. Hino recorded 262 sales.

Toyota’s fleet business contributed 3 714 units through its national dealer network. The Toyota Coaster posted 78 units, reflecting steady demand in mobility and tourism sectors.
On the parts side, nearly 2 million parts were supplied to the domestic market, with 314 116 units exported. Toyota vehicle exports increased to 6 453 units in November, up from 4 436 units in October.
Looking ahead
Toyota says the November results show consistent customer demand heading into the final stretch of the year. With seasonal buying patterns and end-of-year promotions playing a role, the brand expects a strong finish to 2025.
