Mercedes-Benz Vans announces plans to electrify all model series and introduces its new eSprinter electric vehicle. The eSprinter features a modular design and is produced in Europe and North America, with plans to sell it in around 60 markets. Mercedes-Benz has invested 350 million euros in the new eSprinter, with an additional 50 million euros to be invested in each of the three production plants in Charleston, Düsseldorf, and Ludwigsfelde.

The new eSprinter is a long panel van with a high roof and comes with a usable capacity of 113 kWh and a load capacity of 14 cubic meters, with a permissible gross vehicle weight of up to 4.25 tonnes. The eSprinter’s electric range, based on the WLTP cycle, is estimated to be up to 400 kilometers and up to 500 kilometers in the WLTP city cycle. The eSprinter will be launched in the USA and Canada in the second half of 2023 and in Europe at the end of the year.

The eSprinter is equipped with new technical innovations, including an efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor, an innovative electric rear axle, and a choice of three high-voltage battery options with a usable capacity of 56, 81, or 113 kWh. The eSprinter is capable of charging with both AC and DC and can be charged with up to 115 kilowatts at fast-charging stations, taking 28 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent capacity for the 56 kWh battery and 42 minutes for the 113 kWh battery.

The new eSprinter also features digitization and infotainment with MBUX and Mercedes me, offering customers added value through cloud-based services. With its efficiency, range, load capacity, and versatility, the eSprinter is poised to take the electric large van segment to a new level.

“With the new eSprinter, we are taking the electric large van segment to a new level,” says Mathias Geisen, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans. “The triad of efficiency, range, and load capacity with simultaneous TCO optimization makes the new eSprinter the most versatile Mercedes-Benz eVan ever.”
