    Driven: all new Suzuki Dzire

By khulekani / on August 21st, 2018 / in Car Reviews, featured

It’s #chooseday and it seems as if a mini sho’t left with the @suzuki_za Dzire has our @klyvque feeling all poetic: Sounds of a running river with a two tier mini water fall under a marvellous suspension bridge and kilometres of inclines and stretching valleys filled with tricky hiking trails and an uncanny number of butterflies – are just some of the things that added to the tranquillities that had us spell bound to the beauty of nature at a recent sho’t left we took. The Suzuki Dzire has us travel in comfort and got to our destination without burning too much fossil fuels thanks to its very economical engine, a sensible and practical design to ensure sufficient space for carrying some sho’t left essentials. The Dzire is a serious contender in its segment. Watch out for the full review on our website coming soon… #suzuki #suzukidzire #dzire #travel #shotleft #wedotourism #savings #budget #economy #practical #comfortable #frugal #sedan #boot #hiking #adventure

As consumers we often complicate the process of fulfilling a need when we purchase an item. A good example of this complication are cellphones. Now this is not to say that newer features and better specs are not welcomed – but purchases of items have become more superfluous and this means consumers are paying more for features they will probably never use.

The Suzuki Dzire is a good example of a product that has an offering suitable for what consumers really need. It is no longer a Suzuki Swift hatch-back converted to a sedan but rather a new sedan riding on a newly designed platform specifically for the Dzire. This has made the exterior of the car more coherent in aesthetics. Upfront it gets a polygonal chrome covered grill, smoother lines on the side and LED rear lights.

A price tag of R177,900-00 buys you an entry level but spacious sedan that can carry 4 average sized adults comfortably in its wheelbase that is 2.1cm shorter than a Golf 7 SV. Passengers also get rear air vents and a 12V socket. Included in this model is Bluetooth, all round electric windows, a multifunctional steering, another 12V socket and one USB input which will charge and connect to the infotainment for the front passengers. The dashboard design, albeit on the shiny plasticky side, has all the switch gear ergonomically laid out. We also liked the two tone illumination. The instrument cluster has white illumination whilst the rest of the dash has orange illumination. It made looking for switch gear whilst driving during the night a lot easier.

On the point of driving – the Dzire is definitely set up for comfort. Gear shifts are smooth and precise and the steering was light and made it easy to maneuver. The seats were soft and comfortable despite having very little side support. The engine noise was refined for a naturally aspirated 1.2 in this segment. It proved to be quiet frugal as we managed 5,3L/100km compared to the 4.9L/100km claimed by the manufacturer. The engine never felt under powered. Any momentum generated stayed with you under many driving conditions barring hectic inclines where the odd change down was required. All this attests to the claims from the manufacturer about the car being lighter, more economical and better having gained improved aerodynamics. The sum of these claims do add up to a better product indeed.

One thing that must be noted is the road stability when it is windy. During the test period we had the car for, Johannesburg experienced a couple of windy days. The car lost some of its composure under these conditions. This was however solved by a reduction in speed.

Overall we were impressed by the car, its refinement, price and value. A 2yr/30 000km service plan and a 3 year or 100 000 km warranty seals the deal.  The Suzuki Dzire is simply everything that you need and nothing superfluous.

After loads of reviews that I read… I used this review as my guideline to buy a car.
I have had my Suzuki for 3 months and would like to say that I agree with what reviewer says here. Thank you for the review and honest reflection of the car.
Please continue doing such great work.
