Enviro Automotive announced that they’ll be launching South Africa’s first-ever and all-electric one tonne bakkie called Riddara RD6 which falls under Geely’s Radar Auto brand and it’s being manufactured at the Zibo Smart Factory in Shandong Province, China.

    Performance and EV range

At launch, Enviro Auto will offer the RD6 in 4×2 and 4×4 models, both boasting a 73kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 424km on a single charge. Enviro Automotive also plans to launch an extended range 86kWh 4×4 model, as well as a 63kWh 4×2 model in the near future.

    The 4×4 RD6 has a dual-motor set-up, delivering 315kW of power and 595Nm torque, allowing a 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds, and up to a top speed of 190km/h.

Using a 110 kW charger, the RD6’s battery can be recharged in a claimed 30 minutes. The battery can be used to discharge up to 6kW, which can be used to power your site equipment or even household appliances during load-shedding.

    Capabilities

The RD6 is designed for both every-day and off-road needs, featuring a spacious and versatile storage capacity and a 1 Ton payload. Apart from the 1200L load bay, it also has 48L of hidden storage capacity in the vehicle, along with a 70L trunk. It also has a towing capacity of 3000kg and a water wading depth of 815mm.

    Pricing and warranty

Enviro Automotive is yet to announce local pricing. That said, the vehicle comes with a 5-year/150,000 km warranty and an 8-year/200,000 km battery warranty. Enviro Automotive will also offer a remote monitoring solution for the battery & vehicle through Webfleet.
