Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) topped the sales charts once again, selling 11,660 units in March. This gave the brand a market share of 23.6% and cemented its position as the leading manufacturer across the Passenger Cars, Light Commercial Vehicles, and Medium Commercial Vehicles segments.

Of the total units sold by TSAM, 61% came from its passenger car segment. Leading models included:

    • Corolla Cross: 1,570 units
    • Fortuner: 793 units
    • Lexus range: 138 units

The Corolla Cross also ranked third on the national best-seller list. Despite a slight decline, the Starlet still secured a spot in the top 10 with 1,075 units sold.

    Lexus GX sees strong start

Lexus posted solid numbers in March, with the Lexus GX selling 63 units shortly after orders opened in February. The Lexus NX followed with 40 units.

    Hilux remains top bakkie

The Toyota Hilux maintained its status as the top-selling bakkie in South Africa with 2,916 units sold. The Land Cruiser Prado also contributed to Toyota’s SUV strength with 495 units sold.

    Commercial vehicle Segment

Despite lower industry-wide performance in the medium and heavy truck categories, TSAM saw growth:

    • Hino 300: 116 units
    • Coaster Bus: 83 units
    • Hino 500 and 700: 132 units combined

    Fleet and Parts Division

Fleet sales accounted for 3,894 units in March, representing 40.8% of TSAM’s dealer sales. Top fleet models included the Corolla Cross, Hilux Double Cab, and Urban Cruiser.

TSAM’s parts division maintained consistent performance with nearly two million parts distributed domestically and 239,508 exported.
