Nissan has revealed the all new Navara, introducing a fresh design, new diesel engine, upgraded tech and a suspension package developed to handle a wide range of driving conditions. The Navara nameplate has built a strong reputation since its debut in 1986, with close to half a million units sold, and this new model aims to carry that legacy forward with a tougher look and more modern features.

    Design

The exterior brings a tougher, more modern look that nods to earlier Nissan pickups. The V motion grille gives the bakkie a strong face, while the three part intake openings outlined in orange echo the first generation model. C shaped headlamps integrate neatly with the grille to create a cleaner and more refined front end.

New diesel engine and improved steering

Power comes from a 2.4 litre turbodiesel engine that produces 150 kW and 470 Nm, paired with a six speed automatic transmission. Nissan claims fuel consumption of 7.7 L/100 km. The new engine is designed to handle heavy work while remaining efficient enough for everyday driving. An electric power steering system has also been introduced to improve manoeuvrability and handling response.

    Updated four wheel drive system

The four wheel drive setup is designed to operate automatically. It can shift into two wheel drive during lighter highway cruising and engage four wheel drive when towing or tackling tougher tasks. An electronically controlled diff lock is standard on all models. The suspension has been tuned with conditions in Australia and New Zealand in mind, aiming to offer stability and comfort whether on gravel, sand or sealed roads.

    Expanded driver assistance features

The new Navara adds a range of modern driver aids. The list includes Intelligent Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, an emergency lane keeping function that helps steer away from danger, and an Intelligent Speed Limiter that reads road signs and alerts the driver.

The new model arrives with a blend of heritage touches, new technology and practical upgrades aimed at improving how the Navara performs both at work and on the road.
