Isuzu adds new Onyx Black option to D-MAX flagship models

ISUZU Motors South Africa has expanded the colour options for its top-tier D-MAX models, with both the V-CROSS and Arctic Trucks AT35 now available in metallic Onyx Black. The addition comes after strong customer interest following the launch of the MU-X ONYX XT and X-Rider Black, which introduced the same dark finish.

More choice for the flagship V-CROSS

The D-MAX V-CROSS serves as the luxury-focused model in the line-up. It offers high comfort levels, modern features and the option of HR 4×2 or full 4×4 capability for buyers who want a bakkie that can handle both daily life and the occasional off-road trip. The new Onyx Black colour simply broadens the visual choices available, giving customers another way to personalise their vehicle.

Arctic Trucks AT35 gets the same treatment

The D-MAX Arctic Trucks AT35 also benefits from the new colour option. Based on the V-CROSS 4×4, the AT35 is engineered in partnership with Arctic Trucks and continues to be built in limited numbers at ISUZU’s facility in Struandale, Gqeberha. Once the base vehicle rolls off the main production line, it moves to a dedicated conversion area where specialists rework the wheel wells, arches and suspension to accommodate its distinctive 35-inch tyres.

The AT35 remains an exclusive, special-order model for customers who want something more rugged straight from the showroom.

    Shared powertrain across the range

Both the V-CROSS and AT35 use ISUZU’s 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The drivetrain is known for its smooth shifts and respectable fuel economy, making it suitable for long-distance cruising as well as day-to-day use.

    Part of ongoing updates

According to ISUZU, the addition of Onyx Black forms part of the brand’s broader product enhancement strategy. The goal is to offer more choice and refined styling while keeping the range aligned with customer preferences.

    Warranty and aftersales support

All D-MAX models, including the V-CROSS and AT35, are sold with:

    • A five-year/90 000 km service plan
    • A five-year/120 000 km warranty
    • Five-year roadside assistance
    • A five-year/unlimited distance anti-corrosion warranty

Service intervals remain at 15 000 km or 12 months.
