Updated Renault Kwid now standard with ABS

Since its debut in 2016, the Renault Kwid has proven to be quite popular in South Africa’s entry level segment selling over 20,000 units.  Safety concerns have dogged the Kwid and Renault has answered some of them in the newly released updated model.

The new Kwidi has been given some enhancements which include Smartphone mirroring, ABS braking system and seatbelt warning which are now standard across the range.

Beneath the hood, the Kwid continues to be powered by a three cylinder 1.0-litre engine with 50 kW of power and 91 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 5 speed manual gearbox or an automated manual transmission which can bring down fuel consumption to as little as 4.4 litres per 100km (on the AMT model).

Getting into the cabin, you will notice the new Kwid is spacious as the vehicle can accommodate five passengers. The Kwid is also equipped with a first-in-class large 7” (18cm) touchscreen colour display which is encased in its piano black centre console with chrome surround.

This is the price list of the updated Renault Kwid Range:

    –       Renault Kwid Expression                 1.0-litre SCe           R134,900

    –       Renault kwid Dynamique                 1.0-litre SCe           R 144,900

    –       Renault Kwid Dynamique AMT       1.0-litre SCe           R154,900

    –       Renault Kwid Climber                       1.0-litre SCe           R154,900

The prices include a 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty, plus a 2-year service plan. The Kwid model range still offers the value-add of 1-year’s Comprehensive Insurance Cover.
