    Porsche adds powerful Plug-in Hybrid models to Cayenne range

    The German based manufacturer is adding a more powerful trim to its Cayenne flagship. This will include the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe and the new Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe. The S E-Hybrid models will receive all its output of 500kW from the intelligent interactive of a four-litre V8 biturbo engines and an electric motor that’s integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission of 100kW. When the Turbo S E-Hybrid models are idle, they have a maximum of 900Nm of torque to their disposal. The sprint from 0-100 will be done 3.8 seconds and the Turbo S E-Hybrid will reach a top speed of 295 km/h. The average combined fuel consumption is 3.9-3.7 l/100 km and the electric rate is 19.6-18.7 kWh/100 km.

    Performance

    Although the Cayenne E-Hybrid Coupe is not a top performer like the Turbo S E-Hybrid, it will also have a jaw dropping system power of 340kW, torque of 700Nm, and an electric range of up to 43 kilometres from its three-litre V6 turbo engine. Its sprints from 0-100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 253 km/h. The average combined fuel consumption is 3.2-3.1 l/100 km and the electric are 18.7-17.7 kWh/100 km.

    Maximum speed of 135 km/h on electric power

    The Turbo S models are like all Porsche plug-in hybrids are one of the sportiest vehicles in the premium segment because of its hybrid powertrain. The electronic motor is also located between the V8 engine and the eight-speed Tiptronic S Transmission. These motors are interconnected via separating clutch inside the hybrid module. Once the Turbo S is in E-Power driving mode, the electronic motor on its own, can propel the vehicle up to a maximum speed of 135 km/h. The modes can be selected via the standard Sports Chrono Package. While the lithium-ion battery has capacity of 14.1kWh and it can be charged within 2.4 hours with the standard 7.2kW onboard AC charger. It will take you six hours from a conventional charging socket.

    Interior

    As we have come accustomed to, all the Cayenne models are equipped with standard full connectivity for Apple Carplay, smartphone storage tray with wireless charging, LED headlights and a cruise control system. While the Turbo S models come with extensive factory fitted Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), electronic roll stabilisation and the adaptive three-chamber air suspension to mention a few.

     The local pricing for these models is yet to be announced.
