Audi to allow Freeway Plan extension to up to 10 years or 300,000 km

    By Staff Reporter

With the economy in the doldrums, the South African consumer is feeling the pinch. The latest trend is that the consumer is simply holding onto their car for much longer instead of selling it after five or six years of ownership. This option, as much as it saves the consumer on monthly instalments, has not been the perfect solution considering that cars are expensive to maintain after their service/maintenance plan is gone. Noting this plight of the consumer, Audi is giving their customers an opportunity to extend their five years and/or 100 000 kilometres comprehensive service and maintenance Audi Freeway Plan (AFP) to an impressive 10 years and/or 300 000 kilometres.

    Taking pressure off the consumer…

“We are all aware that vehicles become costly to look after as they become older. At Audi we have also acknowledged that general consumer spending pressures have resulted in longer ownership cycles. For this reason the newly launched Audi Freeway Plan extension is great value for those customers wanting the added peace of mind when owning and looking after their Audi vehicle,” said Trevor Hill, Head of Audi South Africa.

    What does it cover?

The AFP covers services, wear and tear items and certain repairs after a specialised Audi Dealer assessment. It also warrants against potential defective workmanship, replacement and repair of defective parts on condition that the AFP policy and terms and conditions have not been invalidated. In addition, the AFP allows for participation in Audi Assist which is Audi’s roadside assistance programme that provides support in an emergency event.

    Duration?

The Audi Freeway Plan extensions are now available up to a maximum of 10 years and/or 300 000 kilometres in increments from one year or 30 000 kilometres from the date of original registration. The coverage of the plan is immediate. Quotes and sales of the AFP extensions are available from any Audi Dealership.

    Pricing?

This is a bit tricky to work out and depends on the Audi car in question. Audi SA says, “it would all be customer or situation dependent. A dealer evaluation or consultation would be the first starting point, and is all dependent on the specific customer case, the AFP plan extension is then quoted accordingly. So for example, the dealer will assess the time of registration of the initial AFP and then quote on the extension if the customer is planning on extending based on mileage or time and by how much…” Audi SA goes to state, “there are combination extensions for both time and mileage, depending on driver behaviour and the length of the customer’s preferred extension. One needs to consider if the customer wants to extend on service plan or both maintenance and service.” The following example was supplied:

    Audi A4 –

        Service Maintenance & Service
    Time 6th year R1,676 R22,747
    Mileage 120,000km R8,400 R23,673
