    2020 Peugeot 5008 SUV updated

After selling over 300,000 units of its 7-seater SUV since it was launched back in 2017, Peugeot gave the award-winning 5008 a new look and tech to compete with the likes of the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Nissan X-Trail.

    Exterior design

Starting off at the front, Peugeot has given the 5008’s grille a distinctive and modern frameless design. The GT and GT Pack levels will receive different grilles to help differentiate them from non-GT models. The grille is flanked by modern, aggressive looking LED headlights. The full LED headlights, available in the GT and GT Pack levels, will feature a sophisticated bend lighting function (EVS) which will “optimize visibility at speeds of up to 90 km/h”. Fog lamps have been integrated within the headlights and can be activated using a function called “Foggy Mode”.

There is a new set of optional diamond-studded aluminum 19-inch wheels and a pair of new colors (Celebes Blue and Metallic Copper). For customers who want a more unique looking 5008, there is an option to kit your 5008 with a “Black Pack” which darkens exterior accents, although we are not sure if it will be available locally.

    Interior design

Peugeot has upgraded the uniquely designed iCockpit interior with new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a wireless-charging pad, a 12-inch configurable digital instrument cluster and a variety of leather and alcantara upholstery.

    Driver assistance systems

The updated Peugeot 5008 SUV comes with driving aids like night vision, adaptive cruise control, lane position assist, automatic emergency braking, traffic sign recognition and speed sign recognition to name a few.

    Performance

The 5008 is powered by two petrol and two diesel engines:

    Petrol engines

    1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine producing 96 kW and 230 Nm

    1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine producing 132 kW and 250 Nm

    Diesel engines

    1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine 96 kW and 300 Nm

    2.0-litre engine 132 kW and 400 Nm

    Price and availability

Peugeot SA is yet to confirm local availability and pricing of the 5008.
