    Mazda unveils the all-new CX-50

Mazda has unveiled it’s all-new CX-50 which is an off-road focused SUV that’s based on the same platform as the CX-30 and is roughly the same size as the automaker’s CX5. Mazda promises a rugged-looking vehicle with superior driving dynamics and off-road capabilities, and a posh interior.

    Exterior and interior

The all-new Mazda CX-50 boasts the Japanese automaker’s striking Kodo design with an outdoor focused presence. It also has an aggressive-looking front-end which is accentuated by the slim headlights, front bumper with faux skid plates and prominent cladding around the wheel arches and side skirts. The CX-50 will also debut new color options, such as Zircon Sand exterior paint and an available terracotta interior color.

Inside, we should expect a well-crafted interior with a driver focused layout and seating materials, and details inspired by technical, modern outdoor gear. The CX-50 will also be the first-ever Mazda to feature a panoramic moonroof.

    Powertrains

At launch, the CX-50 will be available with Mazda’s efficient powertrains, Skyactiv-G 2.5 naturally aspirated engine or Skyactiv-G 2.5 Turbo engine and paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Mazda is yet to announce the power, torque, fuel economy and top speed figures. In the coming years, the CX-50 will also be offered with electrified powertrains, including a traditional hybrid model. More information about our electrified models will be shared at a later date.

To help create greater confidence on and off-road, the new CX-50 will be equipped as standard with the latest i-Activ All-Wheel Drive (AWD) technology and new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select, or Mi-Drive.

    Availability

The new Mazda CX-50 will be built at the new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) plant in Huntsville, Alabama, alongside Toyota’s Corolla Cross. That being said, Mazda stresses that the CX-50 will share no components with the Corolla Cross. Production will begin in January 2022.

Hello Mazda!!!, LOVE the CX-50. I “THINK” you’ve got a honey on your hands? Send me some info, can’t wait to compare some SUV’s? I think this one will stack up with the “BIG” boys. DRH
