    Toyota SA leads sales charts in November

    Toyota South Africa Motors has topped sales charts in both passenger and commercial vehicles in the month of November. With an aggregate of 11,892 units sold, out of the industry total of 41,588, Toyota SA registered a market share of 28.6%. It is the first time since October 2019 that Toyota has retailed more than 11,000 units in a single month.

    Passenger vehicles 

    The newly launched Corolla Cross made a strong showing in the Passenger segment. It registered a total of 1,757 units to help Toyota claim the lead in the Passenger category with a total of 6,962 sales. Other top performers in the group included Starlet (1,477), Agya (911), Fortuner (701), Urban Cruiser (699) and Corolla Quest (517).

    Light Commercial Vehicles 

    The Hilux continued to lead the way with 2,558 units sold – including 1,292 Double Cabs, 404 Xtra Cabs and 862 Single Cabs. Hiace posted 1,763 models, while Land Cruiser Pick-Up registered 229 sales. In total, Toyota retailed 4,657 units – translating to a market share of 41.7% – in the LCV segment last month.

    Lexus variants garnered a total of 46 sales – including 14 ES models, 12 RX and 11 UX. Hinton trucks sold a total of 218 units in November, with the 500-Series registering 65 units while the 300-Series recorded 120.

    A total of 1.4 million parts’ pieces were supplied to the domestic dealers while a further 350,000 units were shipped outside of the country.
