    Honda updates its BR-V SUV

    The BR-V is one of the most recognisable members of the local Honda family has made interior and exterior changes to the compact seven-seater to keep things fresh. The enhancements are also aimed at improving on-road drivability and comfort of the BR-V.

    Exterior

    The BR-V will now feature a revised front look with the LED daytime running lights that have been introduced and incorporated into the lower portion of the redesigned headlight clusters. The lights are now positioned in slightly new place and the aforementioned LEDs will be standard across the entire range. Also, all models ride on 16-inch alloy wheels. Furthermore, driving comfort has been significantly improved through the addition of extra soundproofing insulation material. This reduces the amount of road and engine noise entering the cabin, lending the BR-V a quieter and more refined drive.

    Features

    Speaking of the trims, the BR-V will still be available in three trims: Trend, Comfort and the Elegance. The mid-range and top spec which are the Comfort and the Elegance will now be equipped with rear parking sensors. While the Elegance will now feature a seven-inch Display Audio touchscreen system that integrates the reverse parking reverse camera. The driver of the Elegance also gets leather upholstery and Honda’s Smart Entry system with keyless entry. Other notable features in the Trend and Comfort is an audio system, which compromises of USB and Bluetooth connectivity.

    Engine

    All the models of the updated Honda BR-V are powered by the similar 1.5-litre iVTEC four-cylinder engine with power outputs of 88kW and 145Nm of torque. The BR-V Trend is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the Comfort and Elegance trims also add the option of a CVT automatic transmission.

    BR-V 1.5 Elegance CVT                   R333,000

    All models come standard with a five-year/200,000 km warranty, and three-year AA Roadside Assist. A new four-year/60 000 km extended service plan is included on the Honda BR-V Comfort and Elegance models, and is available as an option on the Trend.
