The Golf GTI TCR is the final edition of the beloved Golf 7 GTI. The Limited Edition GTI TCR will cost you R669,000 and Volkswagen South Africa speculates that it will be in the country in July 2020. Covid-19 may cause further delays but that is the plan so far. This will not stop you from ordering yours from Volkswagen dealers in Mzansi as of May 2020.

    Looks

The TCR will only be offered in the 5-door form locally and you will be able to tell it apart with standard black 19-inch Reifnitz alloy wheels, perforated disk brakes, matte black exterior mirror caps, sill extensions, front splitter, TCR roof spoiler and a diffuser at the rear.

At night, your party trick will be the TCR logo is projected onto the road when the front doors are opened.

Good news is that all features are standard and the only optional features are the colours. Customers can choose between the following colours; Pure White, Tornado Red and Pure Grey.

    Interior

Alcantara door inserts and the gear lever, premium Alcantara sport seats with GTI TCR detailing with a new fabric design as well as floor mats with black and red stitching will show everyone that you are not in any ordinary GTI.

    Safety

The Golf GTI TCR also features standard safety and technology features such as Dynamic Chassis Control including driving profile selection, Active Info Display, Parallel Park Assist and LED headlights.

    Power

The GTI TCR is powered by a 2.0 turbopetrol engine that makes 213 kW of power and 380 Nm of torque. Paired with a 6-speed DSG transmission, this will see the car move from 0-100 km/h after just 5.6 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of 264 km/h.

    Exclusivity

Mzansi will only get 300 Golf GTI TCRs and all TCR owners will get a unique number that will be placed under the GTI logo at the rear of the car and on the key, and also get a personalised ownership certificate.

    Pricing

The retail pricing is R669,000 and is inclusive of a 3 year/120,000km warranty, 5 year/ 90,000km Volkswagen Service Plan and a 12-year anti-corrosion warranty. Come on VW, this should be a full maintenance plan!
