Toyota SA pauses production at Prospecton plant amid KZN flood disaster

With recent floods in KwaZulu-Natal sadly causing loss of life and damage to property, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) has suspended production at its Prospecton plant which is located in the south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. The Japanese car giant’s production plant wasn’t spared as it also incurred extreme damage forcing plant operations to be temporarily halted. Toyota SA says the full extent of the impact however can’t be quantified at this moment. Thankfully, no injuries were reported on site.

TSAM adds that clean-up operations are underway and they’re working to recoup the lost time as well as mitigate – as much as possible – the knock-on effect of delays arising from this unfortunate situation.

The company added that it extends its sincere condolences to the families who have suffered loss as a result of the extreme floods.
