Now in its 11th generation, Honda has sold more than 26 million units of the Civic over the past 50 years. This new sleek sedan, which is offered in one grade, is larger than the predecessor, it also has an extended wheelbase. Accompanying the new look is LED head/tail lights, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. We love the sporty yet classy design. The sleek sedan comes standard with black 18-inch wheels, and a black spoiler.

Inside, it’s a beautiful place to be in, its spacious, very minimalist and user-friendly. It comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In front of the driver lies a 10.2″ IFT Driver Display with all important vehicle information. The suede/leather combination seats are comfortable and supportive.

Powering the coupe-looking Honda Civic RS is a 1.5-litre turbo engine that produces 131 kW/240Nm and sends power to the front wheels via an improved CVT transmission. In terms of performance the 1.5-litre is punchy and responsive. The CVT has certainly improved and feels more like an automatic. The handling on the Civic RS is quite impressive thanks to its suspension set up and grippy Michelin Pilot 4 tyres. Safety comes with Honda’s Sensing suite that includes Collision Mitigation Brake System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist System and Auto High Beam Assist.
The Honda Civic RS is a solid product from Honda and comes in at R669,000. We’re thoroughly impressed and can’t wait for a more comprehensive appraisal.
