    New Audi A3 breaks cover, allstreet model joins the party

    Audi has taken the covers off the new A3. The new Audi A3 brings a sportier design, a sharper interior, and cutting-edge digital features. Audi has also added the A3 allstreet, a new crossover variant, which adds an off-road look and raised seat position.

    Exterior upgrades

    The new Audi A3 gets a wider hexagonal Singleframe grille, front spoiler connects angular side air intakes, sporty bumper and distinctive diffuser, inspired by the RS models. The Audi A3’s colour pallet has a additions which include District Green, Ascari Blue, and Progressive Red.

    New allstreet derivative

    The A3 allstreet features a distinctive off-road look characterized by specific design elements. These include a higher matte black Singleframe grille, a large octagonal radiator grille, and distinctive grooves at the front and rear. It also features raised suspension and wide wheel arch trims, along with standard 17-inch wheels (upgradeable to 18 or 19 inches) which enhances ground clearance.

    Updated interior

    Inside, the new A3 receives a significant upgrade, mirroring the striking exterior. Notable changes include a redesigned center console, new blade design air vents, and updated interior lighting. The standard equipment is expanded, featuring a three-spoke leather steering wheel, air conditioning, ambient light package, and front center armrest.

    Customizable daytime running lights

    The A3 introduces selectable daytime running light signatures, allowing users to choose from up to four different digital signatures via the MMI.

    Connectivity

    Both the A3 and A3 allstreet come with DAB+ digital radio, a 10.1-inch touch display, Audi virtual cockpit, and an inductive smartphone charger as standard. Optional features include MMI navigation plus, a connect portfolio, and an app store for direct access to popular third-party apps. The integration of Amazon Alexa allows users to stream music and control smart home devices seamlessly.

    Safety

    Standard safety features include Audi pre sense front, collision avoidance and turn assist, and lane departure warning. Adaptive cruise assist enhances driving comfort with longitudinal and lateral control, including an assisted lane change function. It also comes with park assist and lane change warning

    Engine options

    Abroad, the A3 models initially offer two engine/transmission versions, with additional options coming in the second quarter. The 35 TFSI with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine and the 35 TDI diesel model both come with a seven-speed S tronic transmission. A plug-in hybrid model is expected to join the lineup at the end of the year.

    Availability

    According to cars.co.za, Audi South Africa has confirmed the facelifted A3 will be touching down in local showrooms in September 2024.
