Mercedes-Benz South Africa has officially introduced the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Hybrid 4Matic+ Edition 1, a limited-edition plug-in hybrid that blends electrified performance with iconic AMG design. With only 12 units allocated for the local market, this model is a rare find for performance enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Bold, aggressive and exclusive

Each Edition 1 unit is finished in Manufaktur Alpine Grey solid paint and adorned with signature AMG styling cues. Visually striking elements include 21-inch AMG forged cross-spoke wheels, the AMG Night Package, Carbon Package, and darkened AMG-specific grille. The Edition 1 also features a sporty diffuser and quad exhausts, confirming its AMG performance pedigree.

Bespoke AMG ambience

Inside, the cabin is fully optioned with AMG Performance seats, yellow contrast stitching, and AMG-exclusive badging throughout. The MBUX Superscreen with passenger monitor and hybrid-specific displays dominate the dashboard, while the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather and DINAMICA microfibre adds to the sense of dynamic luxury. Finishing touches include yellow seat-belts and a range of carbon-fibre accents.

Electrified performance

Under the bonnet, the E 53 Edition 1 combines a 3.0-litre inline-six turbo engine with a 120 kW electric motor to produce a total of up to 450 kW and 750 Nm. This setup delivers a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds with Race Start mode. It also features AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, and a high-voltage battery (21.22 kWh usable) that enables over 100 km of electric-only driving.

Mercedes-Benz South Africa is offering only 12 units of the E 53 Edition 1 locally, making this not just a performance car, but a collector’s item. It comes fully equipped with high-value AMG options, ensuring a no-compromise ownership experience.
