Subaru has officially joined the electric vehicle revolution in Europe with the unveiling of its first fully-electric compact SUV – the Uncharted. Set to launch in early 2026, the Uncharted promises to blend Subaru’s renowned off-road capability with cutting-edge electric performance and versatile everyday usability. Built on the brand’s new e-Subaru Global Platform, it’s designed with outdoor enthusiasts and urban explorers in mind.

    Rugged and agile exterior

The Subaru Uncharted wears a bold and rugged design that stays true to the brand’s adventurous DNA. Styled with purpose, it features a high ground clearance of 210 mm, short overhangs for improved off-road agility, and a tight turning circle of 5.5 meters.

    Modern and feature-rich interior

Inside, the Uncharted blends practicality with modern technology. The cabin is generously equipped, featuring a squared-off steering wheel, dual wireless smartphone chargers, paddle shifters, and a massive 14-inch infotainment screen. Subaru also promises a refined yet functional layout, built to support long journeys and daily commuting alike.

    Electric Powertrains with Subaru DNA

Powering the Uncharted is a trio of drivetrain options. The flagship dual-motor AWD version produces an impressive 252 kW, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 5.0 seconds and a towing capacity of 1,500 kg. This version offers a WLTP range of up to 470 km from a 77 kWh battery.

For those focused on efficiency and affordability, Subaru will also offer two front-wheel-drive (FWD) versions. The long-range FWD model uses the same 77 kWh battery but stretches range up to 584 km. A more affordable entry-level FWD variant with a smaller 57.7 kWh battery still offers a commendable 444 km of range.

All variants come equipped with a 22 kW onboard charger and fast DC charging capabilities, with a 10–80% top-up achievable in just 30 minutes – even in extreme weather conditions.

    Availability

The Subaru Uncharted will launch in the UK and European markets in early 2026. While South African availability hasn’t been confirmed yet, Subaru’s expanding global EV strategy suggests we could see the Uncharted on local roads in the future.
