Volkswagen South Africa has officially opened pre-orders for the all-new Volkswagen Tayron, a 7-seater SUV positioned between the Tiguan and the flagship Touareg.

First revealed at the Volkswagen Indaba earlier this year, the Tayron brings new levels of comfort, digital innovation, and safety to the premium SUV segment.

    Design and interior

The Tayron measures 4.79 metres in length and features a bold SUV design. At the front, it’s fitted with LED headlights and an illuminated Volkswagen badge. The rear also gets a full-length LED light bar and illuminated logo.

Inside, the Tayron offers premium finishes and materials, including ArtVelours Eco microfibre and illuminated trims, depending on the chosen model.

    Three grades to choose from

The Tayron is available in three equipment lines:

    • Tayron Base – Offered as a 5-seater, standard features include Eco LED headlights, Park Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert, a 12.9-inch infotainment system, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and 18-inch Bologna alloy wheels.
    • Tayron Life – Adds more comfort and tech features such as nine airbags, three-zone climate control, 10-colour ambient lighting, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital instruments, and illuminated VW badges.
    • Tayron R-Line – The sportier trim includes R-Line styling, LED Plus headlights with auto high beam, Varenna leather seats with R-Line logo, massage and heated front seats, 30-colour ambient lighting, and 19-inch Coventry alloy wheels.

    Engine and transmission

All Tayron models will be powered by a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 110kW and 250Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.

    Launch and availability

Pricing will be announced closer to launch. Customers can now place pre-orders through Volkswagen South Africa.
