Volkswagen has officially launched the all-new Transporter in South Africa, bringing with it more space, improved practicality, and new powertrain options. The seventh-generation model builds on a long legacy, offering greater payload capacity, better towing ability, and a refined interior designed to make everyday work easier.

Under the bonnet, the Transporter is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine, available in three power outputs: 81 kW, 110 kW, and 125 kW. Customers can choose between a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, with 4MOTION all-wheel drive available on selected models.

Inside, the cabin has been completely redesigned to create a more ergonomic and connected workspace. The new 12-inch Digital Cockpit and 13-inch infotainment touchscreen come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other standard features include LED headlights, an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, Keyless Start, rain sensors, Lane Assist, and Front Assist. Volkswagen has also added more storage compartments throughout the cabin to enhance practicality.

Compared with the previous T6.1 model, the new Transporter offers significantly more load space. The long-wheelbase panel van now has a load volume of 6.8 cubic metres, enough to fit three Euro pallets. Payload has increased to 1.33 tonnes, while braked towing capacity rises to 2.8 tonnes. The roof load has also been improved to 170 kg.

Visually, the Transporter retains a familiar Volkswagen design language with a modern twist. The front end is distinguished by new LED lighting and a wider grille, while the side profile features clean lines inspired by previous Transporter generations. At the rear, redesigned LED tail lights keep the look cohesive across the range.

The new Transporter is available in Panel Van, Kombi, and Crew Bus configurations. The Panel Van and Kombi have already arrived locally, while the Crew Bus and Kombi Style are scheduled for introduction in 2026.

    Panel Van 2.0 TDI 81kW 4×2 Panel Van Manual LWB R 770,000
     Kombi 2.0 TDI 125kW 4×2 Basic Auto SWB (8-seater) R 1,081,700

     Kombi 2.0 TDI 125kW 4×2 EDITION Auto SWB (8-seater) R 1,167,400

All models come with Volkswagen’s EasyDrive service and warranty plans. Panel Van and Crew Bus models include a 2-year/unlimited km manufacturer warranty and a 3-year/60,000 km service plan. The Kombi extends that coverage with a 3-year/120,000 km manufacturer warranty and a 5-year/60,000 km maintenance plan.
