GWM has revealed an updated version of its flagship Tank 500, bringing a sharper, more dramatic appearance to the large seven-seat SUV. Already a strong contender in the luxury SUV space, the Tank 500 now adds a stealth-inspired styling package that enhances its presence without changing its core character.

    Stealth styling meets familiar capability

The latest update focuses on darkened exterior elements that shift the SUV’s look in a more modern and assertive direction. The gloss black mesh grille, dark chrome roof rails, black mirror caps and 18-inch black alloy wheels combine to give the Tank 500 a more athletic and purposeful stance.

The darker theme continues inside, where black Nappa leather is matched with subtle metal trim and ambient lighting. The result is a cabin that looks more premium while keeping the spacious and comfortable layout that has helped the Tank 500 stand out in its segment.

    Hybrid power

The Tank 500 2.0T HEV continues with its 2.0 litre hybrid powertrain, producing 255 kW and 648 Nm. GWM claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 6.9 seconds, putting it among the quicker options in the full-size SUV category. Fuel consumption is listed at 10.5 L/100 km, and an advanced 4WD system with MLock helps maintain traction on different surfaces.

    Premium cabin

The seven-seat layout remains a highlight, offering space and versatility for families. Premium upholstery, large displays and intuitive infotainment help create a comfortable environment for long trips or daily driving. A wide range of driver assistance and safety features also support the SUV’s premium positioning.

    Warranty and pricing

As with other GWM models in South Africa, the Tank 500 2.0T HEV is backed by an extensive ownership package, including:

    • 7-year or 200 000 km warranty
    • 8-year or 150 000 km high-voltage battery warranty
    • 7-year roadside assistance with no mileage limit
    • 7-year or 75 000 km service plan
    • 12-month or 15 000 km service intervals

The updated Tank 500 2.0T HEV (MY25.5) is priced at R1,228,950.
