The latest MINI Cooper John Cooper Works (JCW) remains a true pocket rocket, combining strong performance with the brand’s trademark fun-to-drive character.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 170kW and 380Nm. The JCW feels quick and responsive, with a claimed 0-100km/h time of 6.1 seconds. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission delivers smooth, rapid shifts that make the most of the available performance.

On the outside, the JCW stands out with its aggressive front and rear bumpers, unique alloy wheels, and distinctive centre-mounted exhaust. It’s a car that’s difficult to miss on the road.

Inside, the cabin features exclusive JCW styling touches and a large 240mm OLED display that combines the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system into a single screen. While the minimalist layout looks modern, it does take some time to get used to, as most vehicle functions are controlled through the display.

Behind the wheel, the JCW retains the sharp handling and go-kart-like driving experience that MINI is known for. The ride is firm without becoming uncomfortable, making it easy to live with every day. Performance is more than enough to keep enthusiastic drivers entertained, while the compact dimensions make it equally enjoyable around town.

At R745,574, the MINI Cooper JCW remains one of the most distinctive performance hatchbacks on the market. It successfully combines eye-catching styling, modern technology, and an engaging driving experience in a package that continues to appeal to enthusiasts.
