GWM South Africa has confirmed that its all-new ORA 5 compact SUV will make its official local debut in July 2026, following its first public appearance at the brand’s annual awards ceremony in March.
This marks a key step in GWM’s product strategy as it expands beyond a purely electric line-up to offer multiple powertrain options within a single model family. The compact SUV will be available in petrol (ICE), hybrid (HEV), and battery-electric (BEV) versions, all built on GWM’s flexible ONE platform, which supports different propulsion systems within a single vehicle architecture.
Designed to combine style and practicality, the ORA 5 features a modern compact SUV design with rounded styling elements, contemporary proportions, and a range of exterior colour options.
Inside, the ORA 5 focuses on connectivity and ease of use, featuring GWM’s Coffee OS infotainment system. The model will also include a range of advanced driver-assistance and safety technologies aimed at improving comfort, awareness, and confidence in various driving conditions.
“The ORA 5 represents an important next step for the GWM brand in South Africa,” said Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing at GWM South Africa. “It gives customers the freedom to choose the vehicle configuration that best suits their lifestyle while still delivering the technology, design, and practicality expected from a GWM compact SUV.”
Complete specifications, pricing, and availability details will be revealed at the official launch in July 2026.
