    Suzuki’s popular Ertiga gets updated

The Suzuki Ertiga is one of the brand’s popular models which caters to the needs of families and fleet customers. Launched back in 2019, the people mover has now been update with a fresh exterior and interior styling, rationalised model derivatives and additional safety specifications.

    New Ertiga grades

Due to the current economic climate, which places a lot of pressure on the Ertiga’s target market, Suzuki Auto SA has decided to simplify the Ertiga range by upgrading the specifications of the current GA five-speed manual and GL model five-speed manual or four-speed automatic derivatives. Let’s unpack what consumers will get with the updated grades by starting with the entry-level Ertiga GA. As standard, this model gets electric powered windows, power steering, air conditioning with front ventilated cup holders, central locking, halogen projector headlamps with LED combination tail lamps and a 12V charging socket in the front center console.

On the safety side of things the entire Ertiga range has two airbags for the front occupants, ABS brakes with Emergency Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assistance (BAS) and ISOFIX certified anchor points for child seats as standard. New to the Ertiga range is the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) and rear parking sensors.

The new range-topping GL derivative will receive many of the styling features and interior luxuries of the former top spec GLX. Styling additions to the GL range include brand new 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome detailing on the front grille, while the body-coloured mirrors and door handles were retained. The mirrors are electrically adjustable and foldable.

Inside the Ertiga GL, the specification level climbs significantly. It gets a new full-colour 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility. The new infotainment system has also allowed Suzuki to add a reverse camera and a multi-functional steering wheel with Bluetooth controls for hands-free dialling. Suzuki has even added cruise control to this specification level. It also includes a centre armrest and storage box between the front seats, which in turn adds additional air conditioning vents for the rear seats, central locking system, 50:50 split rearmost bench, adds an Auto function to the driver’s electric window controls and squeezes in an additional 12V charging socket for the rear passengers.

Finally, Suzuki has added hill hold control on the four-speed automatic Suzuki Ertiga GL model. This model now becomes the flagship in the range, and it completes the three-model line-up.

    Powertrain

The Ertiga range is still powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that delivers 77 kW of power and 138 Nm of torque. As mentioned above, depending on model derivative the updated Ertiga is paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

    Pricing and warranty

Pricing for the updated Ertiga range is as follows:

    Ertiga 1.5 GA MT – R254,900

    Ertiga 1.5 GL MT – R295,900

    Ertiga 1.5 GL AT – R312,900

As before, all three Ertiga models are sold with Suzuki’s promotional 200 000 km / five-year mechanical warranty and a four-year / 60 000 km service plan.
