Land Rover’s updated Discover Sport has been updated once more with new technologies, improved versatility, and a few exterior styling tweaks as well as new set of wheel designs.

    Updated technology and convenience features

On the tech and convenience front, the Discover Sport now features a digital instrument cluster as standard, a 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen, the automaker’s latest Pivi Pro2 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, two USB-C ports in each row, a 12V socket at the the second row load-space, seating for up to seven people, 40:20:40 split second row seats, a powered tailgate and luggage capacity of 1,794 litres with the rear seats folded down.

It’s also equipped with Cabin Air Purification Plus with PM2.5 Filtration and CO2 Management. The system helps to promote well-being as well as heighten alertness for the driver by monitoring and controlling CO2 levels inside. The advanced system combines nanoe X technology to combat pathogens and help significantly reduce odours, bacteria and allergens, while the Air Quality Index (AQI) app technology allows clients to monitor outside air quality at their location and their destination on screen.

The Discovery Sport also offers one of the most comprehensive suites of camera technologies in its class like 3D surround cameras, ClearSight Ground View and ClearSight Rear View Mirror.

    Updated exterior styling

The Discovery Sport also features subtle exterior updates. Dynamic models feature a contrast roof and exterior accents – including Discovery script, grille, lower body sills and lower bumpers – all featuring a distinctive Gloss Black finish. Gloss Black front claw detailing on the bumpers and wheel arches amplifies the purposeful stance, with the three-line signature of the front air intakes a clear Discovery design trademark.

Bold new optional alloy wheel designs include a 21-inch finished in Gloss Black and 19-inch in a Gloss Black or Diamond Turned finish. Varesine Blue is added to the curated exterior paint palette.

    Ingenium powertrains

The Discovery Sport continues to offer a range of plug-in electric hybrid and mild hybrid electric engines. New battery chemistry on the P300e offers an improved real-world range of up to 47km (WLTP certified electric range of up to 61km). Land Rover claims 0-80 per cent charge is possible in 30 minutes with DC charging offered as standard.

The electric hybrid combines an Ingenium 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with an electric motor and 14.9kWh lithium-ion battery. It has a total system output of 309ps (227kW). Customer can also opt for the D200 diesel which is powered by an Ingenium 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine making 204ps (150kW).

    Pricing

    Discovery Sport D200 Diesel – R1,305,400

    Discovery Sport P300e Petrol Plug-in Hybrid – R1,715,000
