Suzuki Australia has a special-edition Jimny 5-door called the XL Heritage edition. The limited-edition model (500 units only) celebrates Jimny’s vibrant 4×4 history from the 70s, 80s and 90s, when hair was long, freedom was everything, and Jimny’s cult following first began.

Jimny 5-door XL Heritage exterior and interior

Outside, the XL Heritage limited-edition introduces a bunch of retro-style cosmetic upgrades like Jimny Heritage decals, red front and rear mudflaps, Jimny Heritage cargo tray and a Jimny Heritage pack. The limited-edition model is available in the following colours: White, Chiffon Ivory + Bluish Black Pearl, Jungle Green, Bluish Black Pearl or Granite Grey Metallic.

Other highlights include a 9-inch touchscreen multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (sorry, no tape deck), a 50:50 split rear bench and a luggage capacity of 211 litres which can be expanded to 332 litres. The cabin has 1 113 litres of space in total.

    Powertrain

The 5-door Jimny is still powered by Suzuki’s much-loved K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine. It delivers 75 kW at 6 000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4 000 rpm. The power is delivered through a five speed manual transmission only to the rear wheels under normal circumstances or to all-four wheels when the transfer gearbox is engaged.

The Jimny also has a new version of the well-known AllGrip system, called AllGrip Pro. This system amplifies the capabilities of the four-wheel drive system with electronic assistance, such as selective braking on wheels with no traction that emulates a traditional differential lock. All five-door models further have Hill Descent Control, Hill Assist and Brake Assistance as standard.
