Spring has arrived in full bloom, and so has Suzuki Auto South Africa’s sales performance. The Japanese brand has just smashed another record, showing once again why it’s such a favourite among local car buyers.

    Record-breaking month

According to the latest numbers from industry body naamsa, Suzuki sold a total of 6,534 passenger and light commercial vehicles in august 2025. That’s 135 units more than its previous best of 6,399 units set in January.

Of this total, 4,823 vehicles were sold through dealers, while fleet, rental and government customers added another 1,711 units. This strong performance keeps Suzuki firmly in the number two spot on South Africa’s best-selling manufacturers list – a position it has held since the start of the year.

    Swift still stealing hearts

Leading the charge for Suzuki was the fourth-generation Swift, which clocked 2,101 sales in august. This not only made it Suzuki’s best-seller but also placed it as the third-best-selling passenger car overall in the country.

The Swift isn’t just winning on the sales charts either. At the recent Festival of Motoring at Kyalami, the little hatchback gave fans a thrill with hot passenger laps alongside professional drivers – proof that it’s as fun on the track as it is on the daily commute.

Fronx, Ertiga and more customer favourites

Hot on the Swift’s heels was the stylish Fronx crossover SUV, which found 1,210 new homes, followed closely by the ever-practical Ertiga MPV with 1,055 units sold. The Baleno hatchback added 500 sales, while the budget-friendly S-Presso rounded out Suzuki’s top five with 433 units.

Not far behind was the much-loved Jimny 4×4, which moved 326 units in august. Many of these rugged little off-roaders are expected to make their way to the Jimny Gathering 2025, happening from 25 to 28 september at Louvain Guest Farm in the scenic Outeniqua Mountains of the Western Cape.

    What’s next for suzuki?

With record-breaking momentum, a strong dealer network and fan-favourite models across different segments, Suzuki Auto South Africa is riding high. If this trend continues, the brand could be on track to break yet another sales milestone before the year wraps up.
