Volkswagen adds Vivo Xpress to its commercial vehicle line-up

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has confirmed the return of the Vivo Xpress, marking its re-entry into South Africa’s growing urban delivery market. The compact city van will be available for sale from February 2026 and will be the only locally built model competing in the A0 City Van segment.

Demand for entry-level delivery vehicles has increased steadily in recent years, driven largely by the growth of e-commerce and last-mile delivery services. Volkswagen previously offered the Vivo Xpress in 2016, but the model was discontinued when the second-generation Vivo range was introduced in 2018. With market conditions now shifting, the Vivo Xpress has been reintroduced to meet the needs of fleet operators, small businesses, and delivery-focused users.

The Vivo Xpress offers a fully enclosed load area without the need for a canopy, providing a more secure cargo solution. Side and rear doors allow for easy access, making it suitable for transporting both small and bulkier items. Optional safety features such as Smash & Grab film and window guards are available for added protection.

Designed with efficiency and usability in mind, the Vivo Xpress is powered by a 1.4-litre petrol engine producing 63kW. It offers a payload capacity of 490kg, placing it among the strongest performers in its segment. The combination of compact dimensions and usable load space makes it well suited to urban environments and quick-response operations.

The Vivo Xpress is sold with a standard three-year or 120,000km warranty, along with a six-year anti-corrosion warranty. Service intervals are set at 15,000km, and customers can choose to add Easy Drive Service and Maintenance Plans.

Pricing for the Vivo Xpress 1.4-litre 63kW model is set at R279,990, including VAT and emissions tax.
