Safer Toyota Quantum on its way to Mzansi

The current generation of the Toyota minibus, Quantum has been around for close to 15 years now and by the looks of things, the successful minibus is due for a replacement.

The Japanese marque has revealed its new-generation Quantum van and bus range which it deems as safer than before. The new Quantum will feature powerful engines, bettered ride and increased specifications when it launches in the next quarter of 2019.

Toyota says its new Quantum’s semi-bonneted design has enabled the development team to implement significant changes with a stiffer frame, stronger straight-line performance, greater stability and manoeuvrability, and more pliant suspensions.

From launch, the Quantum will be available with three-seat vans in long and super-long wheelbase configurations and six-seat LWB crew cabs.

The bus range will comprise of 11 and 14-seater versions.

In terms of engines, a 2.8 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel found also in the Hilux and Fortuner will do the job, sadly it seems like there are no plans to bring any petrol engines into the squad.

A lonely six-speed manual will also be on duty.

Full model line-up, specification and pricing will be released closer to launch timing.
