Sportier and quicker Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe revealed with 450 kW

The world has gone mad, repeat after me, the world has gone mad. Power figures that would have been the exclusive domain of super cars are now thrown into SUVs like no one’s business. The sportier version of the GLE 63 has dropped and it is no exception to the rule. The SUV Coupe is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that is offered with an EQ Boost 48-volt starter-generator. The result is a 450 kW of power and 850 Nm of torque, plus 16 kW and 250 Nm from the EQ Boost system. The engine is paired with a 9-speed auto that sends power to all four wheels thus allowing the car to do the 0-100 km sprint in just 3.8 seconds before reaching an electronically governed top speed of 280 km/h. Fuel consumption is claimed to be a rather ambitious 11.5l/100 km.

    Interior

Inside you get MBUX (‘hey Mercedes’) with AMG displays and gadgets. That’s not all, you get Nappa leather upholstery, a revised centre console and carbon trim fiber trim throughout the cabin. You will also not be short of AMG lettering to remind you that you part of the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz performance cars.

    Exterior

The AMG Panamericana grille dominates the front of the GLE 63 S 4MATIC+ Coupe with a large three pointed imposed on it. Black air-intakes and a thin strip of chrome trim add to the styling and help set the GLE Coupe 63 S from its non-coupe sibling. At the back, the bumper splits into two with the lower section taking the black colour and the rear-diffuser below it appearing in glossy black treatment. Four trapezoidal exhausts finish off the sexy back look.

The GLE Coupe 63 rides on 22-inch wheels and if you are worried about a harsh ride quality, Mercedes-Benz has your back. The car employs a standard air suspension with adaptive damping and active roll stabilization to iron out any issues in that department.

Local availability is yet to be announced.
