Opel has lifted the veil off its new Mokka’s the line-up of engines for South Africa. To-be buyers will have the choice between 2 petrol and 1 diesel engine. Admittedly, when Opel announced that the Mokka EV was being considered for SA shores, we had hoped that when this moment came – we will have the option, but sadly – there is no final news on that.

    Engines

Both the petrol engines will be powered by a 3-Cylinder engine. The entry level engine will be a 1.2-litre turbo charged that produces 74 kW and 205 Nm. Up the food chain is a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo charged engine that produces 96 kW and 230 Nm. Both engines can be had with a 6-Speed manual.

The diesel engine is powered by a 1.5-litre turbodiesel pushing 81 kW and 250 Nm.

All engines can be had with the 6-speed manual but only the 96 kW derivative can be spec’d with the 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Opel Mokka is still anticipated to be launched in South Africa in 2022. More details can be seen here.
