Volkswagen recently unveiled their updated Polo. Yes, the popular B-segment car which was launched locally in 2018 has been refreshed. It now sports a new Golf 8-inspired design, features the latest technology and comes with a range of standard equipment and reconfigured specification packages.

Revised styling

The Polo features a noticeably restyled front and rear end which include sportier bumpers, LED headlights with a Day Time Running Light bar on the grille, LED tail light clusters with cascading turn signals and a new steering wheel design. Customers can opt for IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights which debuted in the Touareg luxury SUV. The updated Polo range has sets of new wheel designs which come in different sizes depending on the chosen trim package.

Specification packages

Volkswagen has reconfigured the specification packages: the configurator now starts with the entry-level Polo, and continues with Life, Style and R-Line. The base grade now boasts a significantly wider range of standard equipment. It includes LED headlights, LED tail lights, a multifunction steering wheel, Lane Assist and a new centre airbag which is located on the driver side on the side of the rear seat backrest. Other standard equipment includes an 8-inch Digital Cockpit, the Composition Media audio system with a 6.5-inch touch display (optional 8 or 9.2-inch), a Bluetooth mobile phone interface, exterior mirrors that can be electrically adjusted and heated, and electric windows throughout the vehicle.

Following the base model is the Life specification which adds additional standard features such as 15-inch rather than 14-inch wheels, App-Connect, a centre armrest with an additional USB-C port in the middle of the passenger compartment and leather trim on the steering wheel and gear knob.

There are two new specification packages, namely Style and R-Line. Both offer similar level in terms of their specifications. These include includes the IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights, LED fog lights, Park Distance Control system, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro and Ready2Discover Infotainment system. Visually, the Style includes the distinctive front end with chrome-look crossbars and 15-inch Ronda alloy wheels.

As mentioned above, the R-Line and Style receives similar specification level. The exterior styling for the R-Line includes high-gloss black cross and longitudinal bars of the air intakes on the front-bumper, 16-inch Valencia alloy wheels, a high-gloss black diffuser with chrome-look integrated exhaust panels in the lower part of the vehicle.

Availability

The local launch date is yet to be provided by the Wolfsburg automaker but we should expect the facelifted Volkswagen Polo to arrive 1^st quarter 2022.
