During a virtual event Audi South Africa has confirmed that six model derivatives from its e-tron range will be launched in South Africa during the first quarter of 2022.

    Audi’s future e mobility plans

This comes after the Ingolstadt based automaker committed to an electric future whereby all new Audi models launched on the global market will be all-electric by the year 2026. The e-tron models that are SA bound include the full-sized, luxury SUV called the Audi e-tron which is the brand with the four rings’ first all-electric vehicle.

    Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback

Two derivatives of the e-tron will be sold in SA, namely the 50 and 55 with power outputs ranging between 230 kW and 300 kW, and electric ranges of 341 and 440 km (WLTP) respectively. There will also be a Sportback version of the e-tron with a coupe-inspired styling yet still offering the convenience of a full-sized, luxury SUV. Like the full sized e-tron it’s based on, the e-tron Sportback develops the same power and torque figures with slightly better electrical range.

Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT

The most exhilarating of the trio is the e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT which shares the same underpinnings with the Porsche Taycan. The sleek four-door coupe in GT Quattro guise produces 350kW and 630Nm whilst the RS develops 440kW and 830Nm. Both have an over-boost function providing temporary (35 and 40 kW, respectively) power. The latter will move from 0-100km/h in 4,1 seconds whilst the latter will smash the same distance in a mere 3,3 seconds.

    Local availability and pricing

As mentioned above, the e-tron range will be introduced to the South African market around the first quarter of 2022 and pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
