Mazda 3 Sedan discontinued in South Africa as SUVs take over

Today Mazda South Africa announced that they’ll be discontinuing the sale of the only sedan in their lineup – the Mazda 3 Sedan.

Mazda SA said the decision comes after sighting a decline of the medium size sedan segment over the last few years. According to MSA, South Africans, in line with global trends, prefer compact crossovers and SUV’s like the new Mazda CX-30 above the sedans. MSA has extended its available line-up in the crossover and SUV segment over the past years, and will continue to do so going forward.

The Mazda 3 hatchback, however, remains on sale in South Africa.
