After countless spyshots and recent teaser images, BMW M GmbH has taken the veils off the Concept XM. The M Performance concept SUV boasts a daring new progressive design, a spacious and luxurious cabin dubbed the “M Lounge”, the latest technologies and a newly developed M Hybrid drive system.

    Exterior

Daring, distinct and prominent are some of the words we would use to describe the exterior design of the BMW Concept XM. Some exterior highlights of the Concept XM includes a sculpted bonnet and its near-octagonal shaped grille with horizontal slats and eye-catching contour lighting which is flanked by two separate headlight modules with the slim upper module housing the daytime running lights (DRLs).

The side view of the Concept XM features distinctive and deliberate short character lines which is accentuated by its two-tone gold-bronze and Space Grey metallic shade, large 23-inch light alloy wheels, and contrasting wheel arches. The rear-end boasts vertically aligned dual-branch, twin tailpipes with hexagonal interpretation, laser-etched BMW logos and familiar, extremely slim L-shaped tail lights.

    Interior

Inside, the BMW Concept XM oozes modernity, luxury and exclusivity thanks to BMW’s Curved Display with M-specific user interface, high quality brown leather, copper and carbon fibre materials. The Concept XM also features an illuminated and sculptural headliner with three-dimensional prism structure. A combination of indirect and direct lighting produces a relief-like structure.

    Performance

The bold exterior styling of the Concept XM is said to reflect the car’s exceptional performance attributes, namely dynamism, agility and precision, plus an all-electric range of up to 80 km. The first electrified vehicle from BMW M GmbH in the high-performance segment is powered by a newly developed M Hybrid drive system in the BMW Concept XM brings together a V8 engine and a high-performance electric motor to develop maximum output of 550 kW and peak torque of 1,000 Nm.

The series-production model, the BMW XM, will be built from the end of 2022 at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the USA, where BMW believes is the most important sales market for the new high-performance car.
