5 things you need to know about the updated Renault Kwid

The Kwid has set the entry-level vehicle segment on fire since launch. It has sold a whopping 27,700 cars coming into the country in 2016. The vehicle has been updated to continue the success story for Renault. Here are 5 you need to know about the refreshed Kwid:

    1. New look

The front and back design has been enhanced. The Kwid now comes with new SUV styled headlamps with silver streak LED daytime running lights, and tail lamps with LED light guides. A new Zanskar Blue colour has been added to the range for a more stand-out factor.

    2. Improved interior

The Kwid is compact but can surprisingly swallow up five adults with relative ease. To make the environment more enjoyable, Renault has introduced new upholstery fabrics and an all new steering wheel.

That is not all, there is a new MediaNav/multi-media system complete with a larger 8″ touchscreen display, radio and Bluetooth connectivity, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.

    3. Improved safety

The New Renault KWID now has increased safety with dual front airbags, for both driver and passenger. The full model range is equipped with ABS brakes and a seat belt reminder. Renault says road holding is enhanced thanks to the new 14″ wheels and rear axle.

    4. Reverse Camera and Parking sensors

Adding to the safety features of the Kwid and perhaps recognizing that the average buyer of the new Kwid is likely to be an inexperience driver, Renault has introduced a reverse camera and park distance sensors. Nice one Renault.

    5. Retained engine

The 1.0- litre 3-cylinder Smart Control efficiency (SCe) engine powering the Kwid models has been retained. It pushes out 50kW of power and maximum torque of 91Nm. As before, the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox. The AMT gearbox has been criticized for its inability to cope with real life traffic situations accurately and one wonders if the Kwid will soon adopt the CVT transmission that has just been introduced to the related Datsun Go range.

    Pricing

The pricing of the updated Renault Kwid Range is as follows:

    Renault KWID Expression 1.0-litre SCe               R 144,900

Renault KWID Expression AMT 1.0-litre SCe        R 154,900

    Renault KWID Dynamique 1.0-litre SCe               R 154,900

Renault KWID Dynamique AMT 1.0-litre SCe       R 164,900

    Renault KWID CLIMBER 1.0-litre SCe                R 164,900

Renault KWID CLIMBER AMT 1.0-litre SCe          R 174,900

For added value, the refreshed Renault Kwid range retains the standard 1 Year Comprehensive Insurance Cover, 2 Year Service Plan, and 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty and a 6-year anti-corrosion warranty.
