Toyota beefs up Fortuner offering with ‘new’ Fortuner Epic

Toyota SA has beefed-up its Fortuner offering with the introduction of the Fortuner Epic which comes in two version, i.e. the ‘standard’ Fortuner Epic and Fortuner Epic Black. Both cars are based on the 2.8-litre GD-6 derivatives with the Epic Black upping the ante visually by employing black accents. All Fortuner 2.8 models will get the Epic package.

    Epic looks

The standard Epic exterior has been enhanced with the fitment of a branded nudge-bar and tow bar. Epic Black models feature a bi-tone design with black roof, black roof rails, black side-view mirrors and unique, all-black 18-inch alloy wheels. The Epic Black is offered in Glacier White paintwork to simply underscore the black coated extras. Epic variants can be had in Glacier White, Chromium Silver, Graphite Grey or Avant-Garde Bronze.

Not much change happens in the interior with just metal scuff plates and Epic-branded carpet set added.

    Standard Specification

Being based on the 2.8 Fortuner, standard buyers can expect standard specification items such as dual-zone climate control, smart entry and push start, touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, reverse camera, TFT Multi-Information Display (MID), blue Optitron instrumentation, cruise control, steering switches, power-adjustable driver seat and power back door.

    Changes

The introduction of the Epic models has seen the discontinuation if 4.0 V6 models as well as manual transmission models.

    Pricing

Pricing for the Fortuner Epic is as follows:

    Fortuner 2.8 RB Epic 6AT                  – R660,000

    Fortuner 2.8 Epic Black 6AT              – R670,100

    Fortuner 2.8 4X4 Epic 6AT                 – R729,000

    Fortuner 2.8 4X4 Epic Black 6AT       – R739,100

All Fortuner models are sold with a 6-services/90,000 km service plan and 3-year/100,000 km warranty.
