Lexus TZ revealed as new three-row electric SUV

Lexus has revealed the new TZ, an all-electric three-row SUV that expands the brand’s battery electric vehicle line-up. The model introduces a new approach focused on combining everyday usability with a more relaxed, comfort-driven cabin experience.

The TZ has been developed around what Lexus calls a “Driving Lounge” concept. The idea is to create a space that feels open, quiet and comfortable for all passengers, while still offering a driving experience that feels connected and controlled. A dedicated electric platform and simple cabin layout help maximise space across all three rows.

Inside, the focus is on comfort and atmosphere. Lexus has worked on improving cabin quietness and overall refinement, while features like ambient lighting, a panoramic roof and an advanced audio system aim to create a more relaxed environment for passengers.

From a design perspective, the TZ balances traditional SUV proportions with a more aerodynamic shape. Lexus says the goal was to improve efficiency without losing the presence expected from a large SUV. Materials such as forged bamboo and recycled components are also used as part of a broader move towards more sustainable production.

The TZ will sit at the top of Lexus’ electric SUV line-up and features the brand’s DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system with dual eAxles. Combined output stands at 300kW and 537Nm, which is enough to get the 2,630kg SUV from 0-100km/h in a claimed 5.4 seconds. Lexus has not yet confirmed a top speed.

Power comes from a 95.82kWh lithium-ion battery pack, with Lexus claiming a driving range of up to 530km on a full charge. Charging from 10% to 80% is expected to take around 35 minutes on a 150kW DC fast charger. While official efficiency figures have not been released yet, the TZ’s aerodynamic shape and low 0.27 drag coefficient suggest it should be fairly efficient for something this large.

On the road, the TZ is expected to focus on smoothness and stability, while still offering a sense of driver engagement. Lexus says the vehicle has been developed to deliver both comfort and driving enjoyment, with features aimed at improving balance, handling and overall ride quality.

More details, including final specifications and market availability, are expected to be confirmed closer to production.
