The Triton has unfairly languished at the bottom of bakkie leagues but Mitsubishi is hoping a limited edition Xtreme version will having you thinking twice about your next double cab bakkie purchase. Other than an upgraded look, Mitsubishi is banking on the rands and cents they will be putting in your pocket with the package of upgrades valued at R100,000 but at only a cost of R40,000 more than current model.

    Exterior and Interior

The Triton Xtreme sets itself apart with a distinctive new black bumper and grill combo as well as a bonnet protector and headlight covers. Other exterior upgrades include Xtreme branding, 4×4 stickers, door handle cups, roof rack and a Kekosport style bar.

Owners also get Bosal rubberising, a tonneau cover, tow bar and new “Ezydown” hydraulic dampers for the tailgate.

The Triton Xtreme is fitted with A-Line mag Hazard wheels (black) and Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain tyres.

Inside, the infotainment gets upgrade with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Sport automatic shift knob is introduced.

    Power

The Triton Xtreme employs Mitsubishi’s tried and tested 2.4-litre MIVEC turbo diesel engine which makes 133kW of power and 430Nm of torque. Fuel consumption sits at a claimed combined 7,6 litre per 100 km.

    Pricing

The Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme Double Cab 4WD Auto is priced from R639,995.95. Prices include a 3 year or 100,000 km manufacture warranty, a 5-year/ 90,000 km Service Plan and a 5-year/unlimited mileage Roadside Assistance.
