JAC Motors has expanded its local bakkie line-up with the introduction of the new T6 2.0L CTi single-cab, aimed at buyers who need a practical and cost-effective workhorse. The new model forms part of JAC’s global rollout of right-hand-drive single-cab variants and is positioned to meet the needs of transport operators, small businesses and fleet customers.

The T6 single-cab is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine already familiar from the T8 range. The four-cylinder unit produces 102 kW at 3,600 rpm and 320 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,600 rpm, paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. According to JAC, the engine was selected for its durability and fuel efficiency under demanding working conditions.

JAC claims a combined fuel consumption figure of 6.9 L/100 km, supported by a 76-litre fuel tank that allows for a driving range of over 1,100 kilometres. The drivetrain is designed to deliver usable torque at low engine speeds, reducing the need for frequent gear changes during everyday driving.

Payload capacity is rated at 1,000 kg, with a load box measuring 2,260 mm long, 1,520 mm wide and 470 mm high. The load area is finished with a sprayed protective liner and includes tie-down points and a rear step bumper. The Lux derivative adds a cab protector with additional cargo tie-down functionality. Braked towing capacity is rated at 1,400 kg.

Inside, the cabin focuses on practicality and comfort. Standard features across the range include air conditioning, power steering, electric windows and a height-adjustable multifunction steering wheel. Safety equipment includes dual airbags, ABS with electronic brake-force distribution, rear park distance sensors and a seatbelt reminder.

The T6 Comfort derivative is equipped with a radio and Bluetooth connectivity, while the Lux adds a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a reverse camera and leatherette trim. Both models offer USB and 12V charging points and additional storage behind and beneath the seats.

The new T6 single-cab is sold with a five-year or 100,000 km manufacturer warranty and roadside assistance. Service intervals are set at 10,000 km for the first service, followed by 15,000 km thereafter.

Pricing for the JAC T6 2.0L CTi single-cab range starts at R299,900 for the Comfort derivative, with the Lux priced at R314,900.
