    Potent BMW M5 CS revealed

    A few hours after leaked images of the all-new BMW M5 CS circulated the internet, BMW M officially unveiled the menacing M5 CS. We have all the details for you.

    What’s under the bonnet?

    Straight-off the bat, the BMW M5 CS is powered by a 4.4 litre turbocharged V8 petrol engine making 467 kW of power (7 kW more than the M5 Competition) and has a whooping 750 Nm of torque. The CS is paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. Power is sent to the rear-biased all-wheel-drive M xDrive system with the ability to send all power to the rear-wheels via the 2WD function. BMW M claims it will sprint from 0-100 km/h in a mere 3.0 seconds, a top speed of 305 km/h and a combined fuel consumption of 11,3 – 10,9 l/100 km (WLTP).

    Other bits and bobs and bits fitted to enhance performance are the standard Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres, M carbon ceramic brakes with red brake calipers (gold coloured calipers are optional), retuned front and rear axle bearing springs and refined damper control. Also, BMW has made extensive use of CFRP and other weight saving methods to achieve a reduced weight of 70 kg.

    Exterior design

    To help differentiate the M5 CS from the standard and Competition M5s, the CS is fitted with M8 GTE inspired yellow L-shaped laser lights, gold bronze grille surrounds, gill bars, model badging and 20-inch rims. The CS gets carbon fiber treatment on the front splitter, bonnet with air vents exposed with CF, mirror caps, roof, rear spoiler and functional rear diffuser. As standard the CS is fitted with stainless-steel sports exhaust system.

    Colours for the M5 CS include the Brands Hatch Grey metallic and the exclusive BMW Individual matt paint finishes – Frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and Frozen Deep Green metallic.

    Interior design

    The most noticeable change to the interior of the new M5 CS are the four M Carbon bucket seats for the front and rear passengers with Nurburgring outlined on each headrest. The CS also features red stitching and accents throughout the cabin as well as CS badges and illuminated M5 CS door sills.

    Availability and pricing

    We are yet to hear from BMW SA on local availability and pricing.
