Msinga Driftkhana back by popular demand

HIGH REVVING engines, rubber smell and uncapped entertainment will be the order of the day at the annual Msinga Driftkhana in Mphelankani, Umsinga, on the 24th of September.

Now in its 10th anniversary, the event sees SA’s most talented car spinners perform various stunts in a secure arena built in the heart of Umsinga.

Founder, Smanga Mabaso, says this year’s event will be spectacular as they will be celebrating their 10th successful Msinga Driftkhana but importantly, his 50th birthday.

“The crowd’s favourite drivers will be and there but also we are making a few additions. Besides the drivers, we will have live music as per the norm.”

Among the drivers who have graced the event are King of Spin Magesh Ndaba, Reece Wiliamson, Smanga himself and more.

Last year the event was put on hold due to Covid-19 regulation restrictions.

“Last year’s event was hosted in June under strict Covid-19 regulations to check if we would be able to continue with September’s event. It was a huge success hence we are continuing.”

Smanga assured all patrons that their safety will be a top priority as limited tickets will be sold to ensure social distancing, facemasks will be compulsory and there’ll be sanitizations spots.

“Besides this being an entertainment event, it also creates employment for the community and also boosts tourism in the area. Accommodation facilities like Siqalo Court are usually fully booked.”

Tickets are already on sale at Compiticket for R100 general access, R700 VIP and R1,500 for VVIP.
