Subaru recently revealed their all-new WRX which boasts a  bold exterior design, a dynamic driver focused interior with the latest gizmos, a new GT trim level, advanced safety technology and dynamic performance.

    Exterior design

The new Subaru WRX has an aggressive new look which emphasized by its wide-body design. Up-front, the new WRX features the automaker’s signature hexagonal grille flanked by compact LED headlights.

Contrasting wheel arches and a raised ride height gives Subaru’s sports sedan an SUV-like appearance. The rear end features an integrated spoiler and C-shaped tail lights. It also features a prominent rear bumper housing quad exhaust pipes and rear diffuser.

    Interior design and technology

Inside, the new Subaru WRX features a flat-bottom, leather-wrapped steering wheel, sport seats with red contrast stitching and a large 11.6-inch tablet style display with the STARLINK multimedia systems featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Customers can opt for an 11-Speaker Harman Kardon sound system and a Harman Kardon 504-watt equivalent amplifier.

    GT trim level

The top of the range GT trim features exclusive matt gray finished 18-inch aluminium alloy wheels wrapped with 245/40 R18 summer performance tires. The standard sport seats are swapped with Recaro seats wrapped in black Ultrasuede, electronically controlled dampers, new Drive Mode Select and EyeSight Driver Assist Technology includes Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, and new Automatic Emergency Steering.

    Performance

The new Subaru WRX is powered by a 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXER engine that makes 202 kW and 349 Nm. It’s paired to a 6-speed manual transmission or new automatic transmission.

According to Subaru the adoption of their Global Platform delivers a substantial upgrade in ride and handling performance thanks to increased chassis stiffness and lower center of gravity height. Every WRX is equipped with legendary Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and Active Torque Vectoring and the suspension has been track-tuned for an engaging driving experience.

    Local availability

Subaru SA says the new WRX is coming to Mzansi mid-2022.
