Outside the all-new Audi RS7 Sportback features a new bonnet together with a power dome, new RS bumpers, HD Matrix LED headlights and with dynamic turn signal. The grille is finished in gloss black and the RS7 Sportback rides on RS-specific 22-inch 5-V-spoke design wheels.

    Interior

Inside, standard features include the Audi virtual cockpit, a flat-bottomed, fully perforated RS sport leather steering and new large RS aluminium shift paddles. RS logos adorn the steering wheel, seats, and illuminated front door sill trims.

    Power and transmission

The RS7 Sportback is powered by a 4.0l TFSI V8 engine that produces 441kW/800Nm. The engine is paired to an 8-speed tiptronic transmission with a new launch control function. The high-performance model will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.6 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h; this can be increased to 280 km/h with the RS Dynamic package.

    Some thoughts

The proverbial iron fist in a red velvet glove must live its best life in the updated Audi RS7 Sportback. How so? The car is a beast. It’s powerful and fast. Not without any method to the madness but enjoyable as it manages to stay reassuringly planted in spirited jaunts.

The velvet part? It’s super practical and comfortable. Dial back the performance personality, you have a quick limousine that you can live with. No, not something compromised but ample boot and cabin space. Quality is also top drawer and there’re plenty modern tech and safety features. Do you need more when you can strike such perfect balance between sportiness and performance?

    Pricing

The Audi RS7 Sportback TFSI Quattro is priced from R2,173,500.
