    Toyota South Africa has updated one of their best-selling SUVs, the Fortuner, with a number of specifications enhancements. These include convenience spec upgrades, safety and security enhancements, and a few new exterior colour options.

    Convenience updates

    The Fortuner 2.8 models receives an upgrade to dual-zone climate control while the range-topping VX grade inherits a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) with selectable view, and for audiophiles, an upgrade to the 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system. The on-board satellite navigation has been omitted due to the preferred usage of smartphone apps via the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality.

    Safety and security

    All Fortuner models now also boast an enhanced Smart Entry system with additional security measures. In addition, VX variants receive additional functionality to the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) system in the form of Blind- Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

    New paints

    The colour line-up on the 2.4 and 2.8 models remain unchanged with seven options. On the VX models, Pearl White is replaced by the new Platinum White Pearl – offering eight exterior hues to choose from.

    Powertrains

    The Fortuner is still powered by 2.4l and 2.8l diesel engines. The 2.4 GD-6 produces 110 kW and 400 Nm and is available in both 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto transmission configurations while all 2.8 variants are paired exclusively with the self-shifter, producing 150 kW and 500 Nm. The fuel index ranges from 6.8 l/100 km to 7.9 dependant on variant and transmission type selected.

    Pricing

    > 2.4 GD-6 RB MT – R 599,000;
    > 2.4 GD-6 RB AT – R621,400;
    > 2.4 GD-6 4×4 AT – R 651,700;
