Mitsubishi SA adds range-topping GLS Exceed to Eclipse Cross range

Mitsubishi South Africa is adding a new derivative to the Eclipse Cross range. The newly added variant brings refinement to the model as well as additional specification including the latest in driver assistance and safety systems.

Exterior
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed’s unmistakable design is highlighted by its dynamic shield front face flanked by twin oval headlamps that contribute to the high-tech image. At the rear, a sculpted hexagonal design incorporates a single piece of glass, and the rear lamps feature a distinctive three-dimensional Y-shaped design. The exterior design integrates the latest model year updates which now include colour coded bumpers and heated exterior door mirrors.

Interior
Inside, the GLS Exceed model also gains a panoramic tilt and slide sunroof as standard, which comes standard with a UV protective coating, LED illumination with brightness settings as well as an electrically operated cover which can be opened and closed via the touch of a button.
Safety and driver assistance systems
Standard safety and assistance systems equipment includes Isofix child seat anchors, ABS with EBD, AYC (Active Yaw Control), Brake Assist System, Hill Start Assist System, Active Stability and Traction Control. Convenience features that also contribute to overall passenger safety include an Electric Parking Brake, Electronic Power Steering, Anti-theft Protection Device, Keyless Operating System, Rear View Camera. As of 2023, Blind Spot warning has also been added.
Mitsubishi’s MiTEC (Mitsubishi Motors Intuitive Technology) is an integrated system of innovative technology designed to guide, protect, alert, connect and entertain and includes the Head Up Display and Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System which is said to reduce the likelihood and severity of hitting obstacles 4 metres in front or behind should a driver mistakenly press the accelerator when stationary or when travelling at speeds below 10km/h.
Powertrains
The Eclipse Cross is still offered with two engine variants. This includes the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that boasts 110kW at 6 000r/min and 198Nm at 4 200r/min. The top of the range Eclipse Cross GLS Exceed is fitted with Mitsubishi’s latest 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine that makes use of turbocharging to offer 110kW at 5 500/min and 250Nm at 3 500r/min.
All engines are paired to Mitsubishi’s eight-step INVECS-III CVT gearbox.
Pricing and warranty
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is sold with a three-year/100 000km manufacturer’s warranty, a five-year unlimited mileage roadside assistance and a five-year/90 000km service plan.
