Ford South Africa recently held an event where the car manufacturer celebrated 100 years in Mzansi. During the event, Ford SA announced a slew of exciting all-new models and new derivatives of existing models in South Africa. One of the exciting newcomers, which Ford SA will be launched in 2025, is the all-electric Mustang Mach-E.

    EV power

The electric stallion officially debuted back in 2019 with standard and extended-range battery options. This will either be with rear-wheel-drive or all-wheel drive powered by permanent magnet motors. If equipped with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, the Mach-E has an estimated range of at least 482km. In the extended-range all-wheel drive configuration the targeted power outputs will be a figure of 247kW and 565Nm.

In addition to the standard range, the Mustang Mach-E range has more powerful variants called the Mach-E GT and GT Performance Edition. Ford claims the GT will sprint from zero to 100 km/h in under 4-seconds while the GT Performance Edition will achieve the same sprint time in the mid 3-seconds. Both GTs have estimated power figures of 358kW and 830Nm of torque.

    Battery pack and range

The Mustang Mach-E will be available in both standard (75.7 kWh lithium-ion battery) and extended (98.8 kWh battery) that has an estimated range of at least 482km in rear-wheel-drive configuration. With peak charging rate of 150kW, the Mustang Mach-E with an extended battery and rear-wheel drive can add an estimated average of 76km of range in approximately 10 minutes while charging on a DC fast charging station. The standard-range Mustang Mach-E is estimated to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in approximately 38 minutes while charging on a DC fast charging station.

    Mustang Mach-E standard equipment

As standard, all models includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with car-to-car, vulnerable road user, junction assist, and back-over functionality. Lane keep assist, lane departure warning, emergency lane keeping and an advance speed assistance system are also standard.

Ford South Africa will announce more details, specifications and pricing closer to the Mustang Mach-E’s launch date.
